What is COLD AISLE CONTAINMENT? | KEXINT

March 05, 2026

The containment top panel features a uniform roof structure, rising 350 mm above the cabinet top. With a total width of 1305 mm and a modular frame design, installation is straightforward.

When the top panel is removed, the aisle clearance exceeds 2 meters, ensuring unobstructed daily maintenance.

Doors installed at both ends prevent hot airflow from entering the equipment.

A pre-installed terminal block connects to the fire suppression system. In the event of a fire alarm, the containment roof panels open automatically.

COMPONENTS OF CONTAINMENT ROOF PANEL

Under normal operation, the roof panels are held horizontally by electromagnets. In the event of a fire alarm, power to the electromagnets is cut, and the panels open by gravity, allowing extinguishing gas to enter the cold aisle containment.

The roof panels consist of a steel frame and tempered glass. The steel frame thickness exceeds 1.5 mm, and the glass thickness exceeds 5 mm, with a light transmittance of over 99%.

Each panel is 600 mm wide, and all panels are held by electromagnets. In case of a fire alarm, the panels open within less than 3 seconds of sensor activation. The open panels account for at least 60% of the total cold aisle containment volume.

FrameWORK design

The modular frame is constructed from cold-rolled steel with a minimum thickness of 1.2 mm, ensuring structural integrity and security. Each module provides dedicated space for cable management and the installation of sensors and control units. The framework is also designed to accommodate the air sampling pipe network for the fire protection system.
