Questions & Answers

Q: What can I achieve by managing NVIDIA and Broadcom NICs with AmpCon?

A: AmpCon enables unified host-side and network-side management and monitoring across your data center fabric, simplifying operations in multivendor NIC environments. It streamlines batch deployment of RoCE configurations, allowing you to push standardized RoCE scripts or customized parameters, such as PFC, ECN, and DSCP, to multiple devices with just a few clicks. Once deployed, AmpCon provides real-time visibility into RoCE traffic across both switches and NICs, including PFC pause frames, ECN markings, and queue congestion statistics. This host-side and network-side visibility helps you quickly identify performance bottlenecks and proactively optimize your network for high-throughput, low-latency AI and HPC workloads.

Q: What are the differences between the OSFP interface modules on the network card side and the switch side?

A: The switch side uses finned OSFP modules with air convection, built-in fans, and mounted heatsinks for high-power/high-throughput thermal needs; the NIC side uses flat-top OSFP modules for compact spaces, relying on external fans/liquid cooling. For example, when implementing an 800G IB Switch to 2x 400G OSFP NIC with Modules, use the 800G Finned Top OSFP module #205113 on the switch side and the 400G Flat Top OSFP module #200963 on the nic side.

Q: How to configure MCX75310AAS-NEAT Single-port OSFP as 4 separate ports?

A: The MCX75310AAS-NEAT network card cannot be split into four 100G ports; this functionality is not supported. For NVIDIA NICs requiring port splitting functionality, we recommend selecting available CX8 series products. For example, the C8180 900-9X81E-00EX-ST0 supports splitting into up to 8 100G ports. To achieve 100G direct connectivity, consider 100G NVIDIA NICs such as the MCX623106AN-CDAT.

Q: Can this network adapter be used with a transceiver equipped with a finned top?

A: No, it can't. The NIC is compatible with the module equipped with a flat top, while the modules with finned tops are designed specifically for use with switches.
